Tirlán employees raising funds for Jack & Jill Children’s Foundation
70 Tirlán employees from all parts of the business are scaling new heights this weekend to raise much needed funds for one of Ireland’s best charities.
The brave group will complete Tirlán's Two Peak Challenge, a charity hike that takes place in two scenic Kerry locations over two days on this Friday 6th and Saturday 7th of October.
Over the two days, the hiking group will scale the two peaks of Carrauntoohil (1038mts or 3,407 ft) - Ireland’s highest peak and Mangerton Mountain (838mts or 2,749 ft). It is the 19th highest peak in Ireland.
Along with being lots of fun and a test of fitness, the challenge will raise funds for Tirlán’s chosen charity, the Jack and Jill Children's Foundation.
Jim Bergin, Tirlán CEO, said it is great to see so many employees coming together to raise funds for a very worthy cause.
“The Jack & Jill Children’s Foundation is a fantastic cause and the funds raised will all go to help provide in-home nursing care, respite support and end-of-life care for children from birth to six years of age who have highly complex and life-limiting medical conditions. I’m very proud of everyone taking part and wish them a safe journey.”
Dr Lisa Koep, Head of ESG at Tirlán, is one of the 70 Two Peaks Challenge participants. “Raising funds for worthy causes has always been a tradition in Tirlán and it is very much part of our ‘Living Proof’ sustainability strategy. The two-day Two Peak Challenge is no easy feat and I’m sure we will face many challenges over the two days.
“But as we climb, we will be thinking of the many families in our communities who face very different challenges every single day of their lives, who never give up and who find the strength to continue on. Their strength will give us the turbo boost we expect to need over our two day fundraising drive.”
Senan Foley, Tirlán Two Peaks Challenge organiser said: “From the very outset, this enthusiastic bunch have given this fundraiser everything. They have trained hard. They are up for the challenge. They have fundraised through their families and in their communities. All we have to do now is deliver for everyone.”
Carmel Doyle, CEO Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation, said: “A massive thank you to the Tirlán team for the huge effort in taking on this Two Peaks Challenge. It takes huge energy and drive! All your training, hard work and kindness has helped raise vital funds which translate into home nursing care hours for local families, supported by Jack and Jill nurses in communities right across the country. So, from our community to yours, thank you.’
